RCA cable or otherwise known as a phono connector or Cinch connector is a variety of electrical connector that carries audio and radio signals. The cable gets its recognition from the radio corporation of America.

Originally, the RCA cable cost less and had a simple design, and was intended to function as the mating and disconnecting service for the console. However, as technology advanced, so did the structure of it and the function of it.

Through ages of refinement, the compatible cable has more extensive application than just before. However, with increasing demand and intended functionality, the cable became more prone to be wired down. In this article, we will discuss a few steps you can follow to fix your ever-needed hdmi Cable.

Steps To Follow To Fix The RCA Cable:

  • Step 1:

First, you have to examine the type of cable you have. Check the connector to see if it is plastic or metal. If you have the metal one, then you can skip the next step.

  • Step 2

If you have a plastic connector then it means you have to replace it with a metal one. Buy the metal connector. Consider checking all the other connectors.

If any of them are bad, you might have to change all of them. If you already have a metal connector then it means you might need to change the metal connector.

  • Step 3

Now analyze the metal connector. The RCA cable has a metal tip that is surrounded by a metal plate. It can be unscrewed. Remove the plate to see where the cable wires are connected with the connector.

The wire on the outer side of the RCA cable naturally connects to the sleeve whereas the inner one is connected to the tip. If you are preparing a metal connector then you may notice a tear or break on the metal layers.

See the size of the tear. If it is 1/8th of the total size then simply apply solder to fill the gap. However, If you have a larger gap then proceed to the following step.

  • Step 4

Remove the old connector that is torn using the wire cutter.

  • Step 5

Now you have to evaluate the cable after removing the connector. Most of the audio cables have plastic surrounding it as an insulation cover. The braided band of cable is wrapped around an inner wire which is separated by the plastic one.

  • Step 6

Now you have to strip the 3/4th portion of the outer layer of insulation using the strippers, followed by the ½ inch of the core insulation. Do not damage the wire.

  • Step 7

Now you have to thread the cable from the tip of the connector sleeve and insert it into the hole at the bottom. Insert the inner wire into a hole to make the tip connected. The outer wire has to go through the small hole to be connected with the sleeve or plate. Apply the solder gun.
